Last night, the excellent Silverlake band Local Natives were the "SUPER SURPRISE GUEST" at the Frenchkiss Records CMJ showcase, and -- surprise! -- the band debuted five new tracks during their set. Today, they deliver another surprise: They've released the first single from their forthcoming album, Hummingbirds, the follow-up to their acclaimed 2010 debut, Gorilla Manor. "Breakers" is a lush, swooning chamber-pop number with massive harmonic swells and dynamic shifts. It was among the new songs they performed last night.
