There probably wasn't going to be a shortage of excitement surrounding the Arcade Fire's forthcoming fourth album, their first since that shocking Grammy win. Even so, they're upping the hype factor by an order of magnitude -- they're working on the album with James Murphy (who surely needs the work since retiring LCD Soundsystem). The longstanding rumors of a collaboration were confirmed by Arcade Fire fan community Arcade Fire Tube, who pointed to a quote from the band's manager, Scott Rodger, in Music Week. Said Rodger:
"They're in with James Murphy on three or so songs, plus Markus Dravs who is a long-time collaborator. They write too many songs -- that's a good problem to have. There's around 35 songs with Arcade Fire, two albums'-worth for sure."
Does this mean Arcade Fire are going straight into their Zooropa period? Man, here's hoping.
