Fryars is Benjamin Garrett, a young singer and producer from London. Last year, we liked his "Love So Cold," an evocative piece of night-time electro-R&B. But it didn't quite prepare me for "On Our Own," a slow and dizzy straight-up soul song that turns Garrett's thin tenor into something huge and warm and welcoming. The song sounds like the closest thing to old-school country-soul that a young electronic producer from London could possibly make. Listen to it below.
