tUnE-yArDs' third album, Nikki Nack, is due May 6, and today, its first single is here. Although "Water Fountain" sounds a bit more lushly produced than anything on either of Merrill Garbus' first two tUnE-yArDs albums, it would be hard to mistake the song for the work of any other artist. It's ecstatic, endlessly layered and looped Afro-beat-based art pop that builds from a chant to a celebration (with some pretty random digressions and diversions along the way) in a little more than three minutes.
