For many, many years movie studios have been sitting back, wringing their hands, looking at all of the empty money bags strewn around their offices that have just begging to be filled with that sweet, sweet Laura Ingalls Wilder money, thinking to themselves "Is it time yet? Has the world grown-- no, evolved enough to have this baby unleashed on them? Can they handle it? Will the world even know what to do with a Little House on the Prairie film adaptation?!" Well you can thank your lucky stars that they've finally decided that, yes, we can handle it. In the year 2012, roughly 14,000 years after the book was released and a mere 12,000 after the television adaptation came to an end. And handle it we will. From Deadline:
Sony Pictures is in negotiations to turn Little House On The Prairie into a feature film that David Gordon Green will direct with Abi Morgan writing the script. Scott Rudin will produce with Trip Friendly. The deal hasn’t happened yet, but they are working toward giving the pioneer family a big screen incarnation.
An incredibly thrilling piece of writing to accompany an incredibly thrilling story. But who will play THE PRAIRIE?! Haha. Just kidding. Normally with pieces of news like this we'll do a fun game about just what these reboots will have to offer, but I think we're all set with this one? We're all on board. Just give it to us! WE'RE READY! WE'VE BEEN WAITING LONG ENOUGH! (Keira Knightly for prairie, though? Because I brought it up?)
