Earlier this year, we learned that Janelle Monáe would star in the upcoming film Hidden Figures, a story of three black women who played a huge role in getting astronaut John Glenn into orbit, based on Margot Lee Shetterly's book of the same name. Monáe plays Mary Jackson, a mathematician and engineer alongside co-stars Taraji P. Henson and Octavia Spencer. The film's trailer came out yesterday and paints a picture of three ultra-talented scientists who were barely given achance, but pushed and thrived through a sexist and racist industry, ultimately putting NASA at the forefront of the space race.
