Yesterday, a Philadelphia judge ruled that rap star Meek Mill had violated his 2009 probation and sentenced him to 2-4 years in prison. Meek has been in and out of legal trouble for the past few years, including a stint under house arrest last year. This new probation violation comes after two arrests, for reckless endangerment and misdemeanor assault, and the judge ruled that they constituted a probation violation even though the charges in both cases were dropped. And now Meek's peer Jay-Z, who's only rarely active on social media, has spoken out against Meek's sentencing. In a statement on Facebook, Jay calls the sentence "unjust and heavy handed" and states his support of Meek. Here's Jay's statement:
