spill tab – “Paranoia” (Feat. boylife)

Alex Ritz

Earlier this year, LA-based musician Claire Chicha, aka spill tab, released her debut album ANGIE. The concoction of surreal R&B, gripping psych-pop, and magnetic bilingual balladry showcased Chicha as a chameleonic musician to watch. The other day she returned with a great new single, a silky slowburner called "Paranoia" featuring boylife. Turns out the new single is a preview of AngieAngieAngie, the expanded version that debut album coming in February.

On the new single, spill tab shared:

I wrote "Paranoia" all at once which is such a rare occurrence for me but it did feel like I was able to put down all these things that had accumulated on my chest, and write over these insanely beautiful chords Micah had recorded on bass. One day months later I played the song for Ryan (boylife) who I’ve been such a fan of for a long time - I initially asked him to sing some harmonies over the track - but he mentioned wanting to write a verse and it ended up becoming the second verse of the song. He’s added such a depth and rich layer to the whole thing, and I feel so lucky he’s become a part of it.
