It's a big day for Adam Sandler videos on the internet. The Sandman is in promo mode for Jay Kelly, his new movie with George Clooney, which led to the two actors talking music with NME in a new clip published today. Meanwhile, Sandler conversed with fellow actor-musician Ariana Grande for Variety and CNN.
At one point in the NME interview, the guys are asked about which album they always go back to. Sandler's response: Hole's Live Through This. "I remember I was on tour," he says. "I was doing standup. The album just came out. And I was in my car a lot. I listened to the Track 1, and I thought, 'Woo. That was nasty.' Track 2, it's like two for two. And then I thought, 'This whole album's gonna be great.'" Clooney interjects: "This Hole album."
Sandler adds that he knows and is friendly with Courtney Love, then mentions the time he saw Hole perform in Missouri when he was in town for a show of his own. His future costar Drew Barrymore, who was dating Hole guitarist Eric Erlandson at the time, was present at the gig. (Clooney's choice: Sgt. Pepper.) Check out the Hole discourse beginning at 6:18 in the video below.
The Grande/Sandler chat is part of Variety and CNN's Actors On Actors video series, for which Sandler has previously spoken to Jennifer Lawrence and Brad Pitt. Grande has often demonstrated her love for Sandler's movie The Waterboy, so the pairing is not as wild as you might think.
During the chat, they remarked on Jay Kelly and Wicked: For Good, discussed whether animals should talk, got into the legacy of Bobby Boucher and more. There's a text excerpt from their conversation, but if you want the full thing, you have to watch the video. It's 42 minutes, and the whole dang thing is below, along with a little epilogue video.
Grande also recently met android celebrities BB-8 and R2D2:
