Over the past few years, the Oslo musician Sunniva Lindgård has released a few records of twisty, insular dance-pop under her Sassy 009 alias. Next week, she'll finally release Dreamer+, which she calls her debut album even though her very good 2021 record Heart Ego would fit the definition just fine. In any case, you should be excited for Dreamer+. It rips. If you've been paying attention, you probably already realized this, since Sassy 009 has already released a bunch of dance singles. Before the LP finally arrives, we get to hear one last Dreamer+ track.
Over the past few months, Sassy 009 has shared "Butterflies," "Enemy," "Tell Me" with Blood Orange, and "Mirrors" with yunè pinku. Single number five is "Someone," a bleary and downcast meditation driven by a chopped-up breakbeat and some vintage acid house synths. I love that someone can make music that's this insular and this physical at the same time. In the video, we see a car doing donuts in the pouring rain, which looks extremely dangerous but also fun. Check it out below.
Dreamer+ is out 1/16 on HEAVEN-SENT/[PIAS] Électronique.
