Daphni – “Good Night Baby” & “Talk To Me”

Caribou's Dan Snaith will release a new album in a few weeks called Butterfly, under his more dance-oriented moniker Daphni. We've heard quite a bit of the new record so far via singles like "Waiting So Long," "Sad Piano House," "Eleven," and "Josephine," but the whole album is 16 songs total, so there's still a good chunk left for Snaith to share. Today he's offering two more tracks from Butterfly: a straight-up dance floor tune called "Good night Baby" and a mellower, pared-down groove called "Talk To Me."

Here's what Snaith has to say about the new songs:

"Good Night Baby" is a good illustration of how far a finished track can end up from its origin / of how rudderless I am when making music most of the time. This one started out more like the mostly drums only track that you hear towards the end… but somewhere along the way turned into a big mushy loved up track with all the feels.

And "Talk To Me" is the polar opposite — it's rare that I manage to keep my tracks as sparse and spare as this one — just wubs, drums, voices and occasionally a little synth melody. Sometimes — especially on a big soundsystem — that’s all you need.

Check both of those out below.

Butterfly is out 2/6 on Jiaolong.
