By Storm are a group born out of tragedy. Six years ago, Jordan Groggs, a member of the experimental rap trio Injury Reserve, suddenly passed away at the age of 32. In 2023, surviving Injury Reserve members RiTchie and Parker Corey announced that they would keep making music under a new name, calling themselves By Storm. They've released a series of singles, and now they've let it be known that their first album as By Storm, the poignantly titled My Ghosts Go Ghost, will come out later this month.
With My Ghosts Go Ghost, By Storm look to continue the journey that they started with Injury Reserve. In a press release, RiTchie says, "This past decade, we built our identity, and every record has been us figuring out more about the kind of band we want to be. That doesn’t change." The new album has only one guest appearance, from billy woods, and it includes previous singles "Zig Zag" and "Double Trio 2." It's also got By Storm's new single, the clattering and emotional club meditation "And I Dance." Check it out below.
