The Swedish indie pop/post-punk greats Makthaverskan announced their grand return in November with "Pity Party," billed as the lead single from new album Glass And Bones. We still don't have full details on the album, but we do have a second single.
"Louie," out today, begins with a pounding pop beat that sounds straight out of the '80s. A tangle of post-punk guitar melodies weaves its way into the track, and Maja Milner once again gets a chance to let her voice soar. At times it almost feels like an indie version of early Madonna. Team Makthaverskan is two for two this cycle.
Milner also guested on "Om Du Var Solen," a new song out this week from Drakenberg, a new band built from the core of Makthaverskan's old peers Holograms. The brisk, tumbling track features some extremely Cure-esque vocals, punctuated by more of Milner's beautiful wails. This one rocks earnestly and fervently.
