Your Old Droog & Madlib’s Droogie Otis Make TV Debut On Fallon

Todd Owyoung/NBC

They got Your Old Droog on Jimmy Fallon now. That's crazy. Droog, the prolific New York underground rap staple, recently got together with production legend Madlib, a longtime collaborator, to form a unit called Droogie Otis. They've released a few singles, and there's an album in the works. Last night, Droog and Madlib were musical guests on The Tonight Show. Droog has come a long way.

On Fallon, Your Old Droog and Madlib debuted an as-yet-unreleased song called "Gumby," which finds Droog spazzing out over a warm piano loop and drums that take their time to arrive. The duo then slide into "The Edge," the Killer Mike collab that they released earlier this year. (Mike wasn't there.) I've never seen Droog live, and I'm impressed at what he can do with no hypeman or backing track. Watch the performance below.

We still don't have any info on the Droogie Otis album, but Droog released the solo EPs Anything Is Possible and Yod Serling at the end of last year.
