The young UK retro-soul singer became a big international pop star with her 2023 debut album My 21st Century Blues, and she has kept her momentum up since then. Her recent single "Where Is My Husband!" is now her biggest-ever US hit, and she'll open a bunch of dates on Bruno Mars' upcoming stadium tour. Now, the time has come to announce her all-important sophomore LP.
Yesterday, Raye let it be known that her second album will bear the portentous title This Music May Contain Hope, and she shared the cover-art image of her flying a record as a kite or whatever. We don't have any concrete details on the LP yet, but we do have this unbelievably generic press-release statement from Raye herself: "Music is medicine, I’ve always said that. I guess I’m in the process of making medicine for myself that I can share with the world. I want us all to say to ourselves that it’s going to be all right, and I’m going to have faith in the seeds that I’ve planted beneath the snow. I wanted to create something that is a hug, bed, or soft place for that person who needs it." That's so nice of her.
On Thursday night, Raye played a gig at Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland. This was the opening date on a global trek that she calls This Tour May Contain New Music. You see what she did there? The tour does indeed contain new music. According to Setlist.fm, Raye sang eight as-yet-unreleased songs in Lodz. Watch a bunch of fan videos below, via the helpful @RayeUpdate Twitter account.
