Throughout 2023 and 2024 we got a smattering of music from TV Star, a promising Seattle/Tacoma band with Regional Justice Center/Militarie Gun affiliations playing shimmering psychedelic garage rock. The group stayed quiet last year, but they're back today to kick off 2026 with a new track and a new record label.
"Texas Relation" is TV Star's first single for the great Bay Area indie label Father/Daughter. It's another great bit of jangly psych-pop that feels as indebted to the '90s as the '60s. Those guitars are straight out of a Pearl Jam power ballad, and Ashlyn Nagel's voice fits into a lineage with the likes of the Sundays. The song is also laced with some lovely violin parts.
