A few years ago, I saw the Boston band Final Gasp play a DIY hardcore fest, and all of the band members were shirtless and drenched in fake blood. That was fucking awesome. I don't know if that was a one-off stunt or what. It sadly appears that Final Gasp don't do that anymore, but they deserve your eternal allegiance even if they only did it the one time. Also, they're a month away from releasing their new album New Day Symptoms, and it's awesome. They deserve your allegiance for that, too.
Final Gasp recorded New Day Symptoms with expert heavy-music produce Arthur Rizk, and we already posted lead single "The Apparition." Today, the band follows that song with the hard, propulsive goth-rocker "Burials Of Birth." Frontman Jake Murphy uses the song to tell the story of an unhoused man who he used to know and who froze to death while trying to rebuild his tent encampment after police burned it down. Watch the Caleb Gowett-directed video below.
New Day Symptoms is out 2/27 on Relapse.
