Back in 2024, Toadies said they were about to release their eighth studio album The Charmer, but things got delayed when its producer — the legendary Steve Albini — tragically and suddenly died that May. This May, however, The Charmer is finally getting released, and this week the Texas rockers are teasing it with the title track. "The Charmer" arrives with a video that features the late Albini, filmed at his very own Electrical Audio studios.
Toadies say that The Charmer is "among the final projects Albini worked on before his passing that have not yet been released." The band's guitarist Clark Vogeler says: "I knew before we went in to record the new album with Steve Albini we’d be playing together live as much as possible... Most records are pieced together layer by layer. We knew he would capture the sound of what was happening in the room, so I took the opportunity to capture images as well."
