Total Bummer Fest Has Dinosaur Jr., Jesus And Mary Chain, Lots Of Guitar Music

New York's Total Bummer is a brand new festival that's dedicated to different generations of bleary guitar music, and it's coming to the Knockdown Center in Queens on Memorial Day weekend. Dinosaur Jr. and the Jesus And Mary Chain, two of the greatest and most influential alt-rock bands of the '80s and '90s, will headline the two days, and a bunch of other great bands are also on the bill.

Just look at this shit: Blonde Redhead, julie, the Meat Puppets, They Are Gutting A Body Of Water, Flipper, Drop Nineteens, Teen Mortgage, Her New Knife, No Joy, Starcleaner Reunion, Late Of Heaven, Bloodsports, Blair, and Cibo Matto's Miho Hatori. That looks awesome! It's always cool when a festival is curated with an actual cohesive experience in mind, and it's even cooler when it brings together classic bands with the younger ones who are doing cool, interesting things with the sounds that those bands developed.

Total Bummer goes down May 30-31 at the Knockdown Center's indoor and outdoor stages. It's a co-production from the Knockdown Center and the people behind the dearly missed Brooklyn venue St. Vitus, and those folks know what they're doing. Shout out to whoever put a still from Heathers on the poster. Get yourself a ticket here.
