Tracey Nelson Announces New Album Hercules & Featuring MJ Lenderman & Wednesday

Singer-songwriter Tracey Nelson is based in New York, but he's evidently friends with all the countrified indie rockers of Asheville, North Carolina. Last month, Nelson signed to the new K Records imprint Perennial and shared "Dolly's Coat," a collaboration with the very busy MJ Lenderman. Today, Nelson announces his album Hercules. Lenderman and his regular collaborator Colin Miller produced the album, and both of them play on it.

It's not just Lenderman and Miller, either. Hercules, which originally came out on CD-R, also has contributions from Wednesday members Karly Hartzman, Ethan Baechtold, and Xandy Chelmis. Landon George, another member of Lenderman's band, is on the album as well, as is former Hotline TNT guitarist Jack Kraus. Before you ask, no, I don't know what's up with that cover art.

"Dolly's Coat" is on Hercules, and so is "Just Shoot Me Now," a song that Nelson quietly dropped on YouTube last year. (As I write this, the video has fewer than a thousand views, so it's probably just as new to you as it is to me. It's really good.) Today, Nelson shares the album-opening title track from "Hercules." As with those other two songs, it's a blissfully melancholic folk-rock amble that fits very cozily with Lenderman, Wednesday, and that whole crew. Below, check out the song's video, directed by Jolie M-A, and the album's tracklist.
