Last year, Tekashi 6ix9ine violated the terms of his supervised release and was sentenced to three months behind bars. The controversial rapper got out of federal detention yesterday, and he was holding a SpongeBob doll he bragged was signed by the former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
6ix9ine and Maduro were both held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. In January, the rapper told TMZ he intended to play cards (and dance) with Maduro while they were locked up. (MDC also recently held inmates like Luigi Mangione, Diddy, R. Kelly, and Ghislaine Maxwell.) Celebrity jeweler Vobara greeted 6ix9ine outside the detention center, gifting him a $2.2 million 400-carat diamond chain of almost four pounds.
6ix9ine was originally arrested in 2018 along with Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods members for firearm charges. After notoriously testifying against the gang members, he was given a reduced two-year sentence, but then was caught possessing cocaine and MDMA.
