This is a lot cooler than Katy Perry going into space: NASA played Chappell Roan's "Pink Pony Club" to wake up the astronauts on Artemis II this morning. However, mission control abruptly cut the audio after Roan sang “heels.” "We were all eagerly awaiting the chorus," Commander Reid Wiseman joked.
Artemis II launched on Wednesday (April 1) with NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, as well as Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen. It's the first crewed lunar mission since 1972 and includes the first woman and first Black astronaut to travel to the vicinity of the Moon. This morning, the Orion spacecraft passed the midpoint. The 10-day journey will take them around the Moon and back to Earth on April 11.
