Asher White – “Nightingale’s Version (Sailor’s Moon)”

We gave Asher White earned an Artist To Watch accolade last year upon the release of her breakout album 8 Tips For Full Catastrophe Living. Since then, the Brooklyn-via-Rhode Island musician has contributed to the benefit compilation Big Hug Volume Three and released a track-by-track cover of Jessica Pratt's debut album. Today White's back with "Nightingale's Version (Sailor's Moon)," a polished-up version of a track that originally apepared on her 2019 album In The Quarry.

White originally wrote the song in 2019 during her sophomore year of college: "It's a very meaningful song to me that I feared losing to time and wanted to dust off." The vocals, drums, and guitars have all been re-recorded, but the plunky, rickety organ and piano — recorded in a cavernous old church room on the RISD campus — remain from the original song.
