Koyo – “You Hate Me”

Matt Fevrier

Have you ever been in a situation where someone tells you the phrase "you hate me"? Man, that's the fucking worst. What are you going to say? You have to be like, "Um, no I don't," even if you do actually hate that person. And if you don't hate them, your denial is still going to come off hollow. Please, everyone, don't use that phrase in any type of conversation. I guess it works as a song title, though, especially if we're talking about an emo song.

"You Hate Me" is the latest song from Koyo, the Long Island emo band made up of heavy hardcore veterans. Koyo's new album Barely Here comes out next month, and it's got appearances from Drain's Sammy Ciaramitaro and Fleshwater's Marisa Shirar. We've already posted the singles "Irreversible" and "What I'm Worth."

"You Hate Me" is an energetic and accusatory song that gives off major Taking Back Sunday vibes. That's fully intentional. I am dead certain that Koyo want you to think of Taking Back Sunday. The video for "You Hate Me" has a whole lot of movement. Check it out below.

Barely Here is out 5/8 on Pure Noise.
