It's time for new Ebbb to flow. Fresh out of Brixton's vaunted Windmill scene, the London band has been putting out singles like "Home Ground" and "Book That You Like" in recent months. Now they've announced their debut album Shallow Hits, dropping this summer on Ninja Tune. It features "Home Ground" as well as new single "Now You Know," out now.
"Now You Know" boasts a brisk rhythmic backbone powered by syncopated live drums and slicing African guitar, and Will Rowland's vocal melody reminds me of Panda Bear. He shared these thoughts:
"Now You Know" started life as a playful, riff-led instrumental. Each layer brought the song to life — first the vocals with lyrics that depict obsessive love, and then the punchiness of the live drum groove, which really tied the song together in the studio. The song is the most playful and optimistic on the album.
