John Carpenter Announces New Graphic Novel And Soundtrack Cathedral: Hear “Lord Of The Underground”

It might only be May, but that doesn't mean we can't be thinking about John Carpenter. Today, the Halloween multihyphenate has announced his first-ever graphic novel Cathedral, which will arrive this August alongside a soundtrack of the same title. He made the album with longtime bandmates Daniel Davies and son Cody Carpenter, and lead single "Lord Of The Underground" is out now.

Cathedral, inspired by a vivid dream Carpenter had, is about an abandoned church in downtown Los Angeles that becomes a point of interest after a police officer is killed. Carpenter made the graphic novel with his wife and longtime creative partner Sandy King, writer Sean Sobczak, and illustrators Federico De Luca and Luis Guaragna. Carpenter explains that he knew the story needed some heavy riffs to go along with it, hence "Lord Of The Underground"'s heavy metallic atmosphere. Check it out below.

The Cathedral soundtrack is out 8/7 via Sacred Bones.
