On "Suma Root," the latest single from North London producer PIGMNT, we're reminded that a strong beat and propulsive rhythm can feel provocatively healing. The bass-heavy song is the second single from PIGMNT's forthcoming EP, where each song is named for a plant with restorative qualities: "Nettle Root," "Ginseng," "Suma Root," "Ashwagandha."
In a press release, the producer said, "Each track is linked to a holistic herb. It’s an idea I’ve wanted to explore for a while, especially after discovering Metal Fingers, aka MF DOOM’s Special Herbs series years ago, but I’d never fully followed through with it until now. I’ve always believed that music itself can be healing, so this felt like a natural way to take that idea further, by directly tying the tracks to herbs with known properties."

Ginseng is out May 28 via CDR. Pre-order here.
