Babehoven Announce New Album I See Them, I See Me: Hear “Lasagna”

In 2024, upstate NY duo Babehoven released a stunning album called Water's Here In You. Somehow, two years have flown by and Maya Bon and Ryan Albert are already returning with the follow-up titled I See Them, I See Me, out in September via Double Double Whammy. They're announcing the new project with the single "Lasagna" and a video directed by Ash Kron.

"Lasagna" is a gorgeous contemporary soft rock gem. There's some pedal steel, comforting acoustic strums, and, of course, Bon's cotton-soft vocals. "Driving on the 217, feeling smaller than I am/ Doing all the work I can," goes one line. She sings about carrying on and making the effort to love someone and change for the better. That's hard work, and reality seems to bend and break.

“Sometimes when you’re deeply intertwined, you’re so close you can’t really see one another," Bon shared in a press release. "You want the other to break in two, to reveal what’s underneath. You keep yourself busy, you fill your day with tasks but the other person is waving in the wind all around you, you feel them everywhere. You feel small, stuck, and frantic all at once.”

Babehoven worked on I See Them, I See Me with three different engineers: Sam Evian, Kevin Copeland, and Phil Weinrobe, who is also listed as a co-producer. "We wanted to incorporate a fresh, live, honest feel into the recordings," the band said. "We actively tried to have more fun with making this album." The album was also tracked with six-person ensemble, where Weinrobe enforced a "no playback, no headphones, and no preparation" game plan.
