It's Oasis Summer. The recently reunited Britpop greats' seminal LP (What's The Story) Morning Glory? has been named the UK's Official biggest studio album of all time, surpassing the Beatles.
The list, which celebrates 70 years of the Official Charts Company, has two compilation albums at the top, with Queen's Greatest Hits #1 with 7.8 million chart units and ABBA's Gold at #2 with 7.1 million chart units. (What's The Story) Morning Glory? is the highest studio LP on the list at #3 with 6.2 million chart units. Previously in that spot was the Beatles' 1967 blockbuster Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, which has not only been trumped by Oasis but also by Adele's 21.
The album was boosted by the band's reunion, plus "Wonderwall" recently returned to the Hot 100 after it became an unofficial anthem for the England men's football team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. It's the song's first time on the chart since 1996, and it's at #27.
Meanwhile, Travis Scott named Oasis as a current influence for his new sound, along with Van Halen, Don Toliver, Raphael Saadiq, and Daft Punk. "I'm like, OK, I need to double down on trying to make something that can reach the person that's all the way back in the bowl, so how do I reach them like the person that’s right next to me," he told Variety. "So that's what I'm on — trying to elevate the show to a more theater aspect."
