We're nearing the end of July and rapidly approaching the dog days of August, which means by now you should have some music attached to your memories of this season. It also means the time has come to vote for that music.
Every year around this time, we launch our Song Of The Summer poll. It used to be the Indie Song Of The Summer, but then we broadened our hazy horizons. Maybe it still will be the Indie Song Of The Summer, though? I'll be excited to see which candidates emerge as favorites and where Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas," objectively this summer's biggest hit in terms of chart domination, stands among the Stereogum readership. In my experience, y'all are more likely to be choosin' "Taxes" (though not enough of you to defeat last year's champion "Elderberry Wine").
Here's how it works: You get to vote for one (1) song. It can be popular or obscure, acclaimed or derided. We're not putting parameters on it. It simply needs to be the song that, for you, represents Summer 2026. In the form below, you will enter the artist and title along with your email address, which we will not sell or distribute. If you allow it, we'll merely sign you up for our beloved weekly email newsletter, which our founder Scott Lapatine will personally deliver to your inbox each Friday. It's a fantastic newsletter, so clicking no would be dumb, but this whole exercise is about letting you make your own choices, so we need to allow you the freedom to fall on your face here.
