Usher Goes Viral For Beckoning Doorman, Allegedly Using Lookalike At New Jersey Show

Right now, Usher is on a giant stadium tour with his fellow R&B megastar Chris Brown, and he keeps going viral for goofy reasons. A couple of weeks ago, he invited a female fan to the stage for grinding purposes and then promptly disinvited her when she clearly wasn't into it, which led to a whole online fracas. Now, Usher is going viral for a couple of other reasons — one involving door-holding etiquette, one for allegedly pulling an MF DOOM and sending a lookalike out onstage.

Let's deal with the easy one first. Recently, someone caught a video of Usher doing something weird outside a hotel. He arrived at a glass door with a ladyfriend, and she opened the door for herself. Usher then held the already-open door and beckoned for the nearby doorman, who ran over and held the door so that Usher could walk through it hands-free. What was that? Is that regular rich-people behavior?

By definition, ushers are supposed to hold doors, but this is evidently not true of Usher Raymond IV. One possible explanation for the door thing: Usher thought the doorman should've opened the door for the woman, so he motioned for the guy to come do his job, but only after the woman had already fully traversed the doorway and presumably gone about her day.

Usher could've opened the door for her himself. Perhaps he was embarrassed for his own lapse of chivalry and merely taking it out on a nearby hotel employee. Or maybe Usher's brain was just fully fogged-up and nothing he did made any sense. So much body language to analyze in a few short seconds of footage!

Now: The clone thing! We can't chalk this one up to Usher being weird. This appears to be pure fan weirdness. On Friday night, Usher and Chris Brown played the first of two shows at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Apparently, some fans have gone through footage from those shows and determined that Usher doesn't look like himself in some of them. The theory, it seems, is that Usher used a lookalike, or "clone," for part of the concert. Those theories seem to center around his performance of "Caught Up," since other clips from the show definitely look like Usher. But this still looks like Usher to me? You be the judge.

That's Usher, right? On Saturday, the radio station Power 105.1 posted an Instagram reel on the "clone" situation, and Usher jumped in the comments to dispel those notions. Usher wrote, "? Ya'll are funny...clone? They can't clone this??... How ya'll come up with this? ??? AI ain't that advanced."

On Sunday, the tour's official Instagram account reposted Usher's comments.

What I want to know is: How is there all this weird shit surrounding the Usher/Chris Brown tour and none of it is centered around Chris Brown?
