Wild Pink – “Still Coming Down”

10:31 AM EDT on August 17, 2026

On Friday, John Ross' consistently great indie rock project Wild Pink will release the new album Still Coming Down. Ross recorded it in Asheville with producer Alex Farrar, and it's got contributions from people like MJ Lenderman, Hand Habits' Meg Duffy, and a bunch of people from the Wednesday/Lenderman axis. It fucking rules. You should be excited about it. The day that the album comes out, Stereogum will help to present the record-release show at the Queens venue Cassette. That show is sold out, and if you entered our giveaway, you should check your email today.

In the run-up to the Still Coming Down release, Wild Pink has shared the singles "Round Of Applause At The End Of The World," "Box Store," and "500 Is The New 250." Today, we get one last single, the album's title track. It's a warm, ragged rocker with lyrics that reflect hard-won wisdom: "You got a compass right where your heart is, you know what to do/ When you stop eating shit, they stop feeding you."

In a press release, John Ross says, "This is my favorite song on the record right now, so I'm glad this one is out today. I love Meg Duffy's sinewy, slow motion fretless guitar playing and Landon George's fiddle in the middle. This song isn't about any one single thing, but it's mostly about my son and feeling overwhelming love." Wes Sterrs directed the video, in which people in hazmat suits clean up a trashed hotel room. Check it out below.
