daine is releasing their highly anticipated debut album In Endless Awe & Agony later this year, but it turns out the hyperpop scene has some drama (who could've guessed?). Electronic duo Bassvictim — who are known to be controversial — started it when Ike Clateman made shadey comments about their collab with daine on an Instagram Live.

Last month, Bassvictim released a remix of daine's In Endless Awe & Agony track "PQC." On the livestream, Clateman said:

The daine remix I just made in 20 minutes 'cause they were, like, hitting us up over and over again to do a remix. We don't really do remixes and stuff. The offer just kept getting higher and higher. My management was like, "You wanna do it, they're offering this amount now," and we were in Vietnam. And I was just like, "Fuck it." And I just opened the stems. I didn't even listen to the song, I just started playing with them in the computer. And I did it in like 30 minutes and they liked it. And then I listened to the song afterwards and it's pretty good. But I like our version better.

daine commented on the video, shared on a TikTok account called hyperslopdaily, "this is poor taste and weird af i DID NOOOT think it was like that at all. my team asked if id like a BV remix & i said yes they’re awesome. our teams know each other. i was not desperate & i did not break the bank at all."

That's the hyperpop drama for today.

ike from bassvictim confirms daine’s management + label begged them for a remix and offered a huge amount of money. bassvictim had never even heard of daine or the song. is daine confirmed nepo? #daine #nepo #bassvictim
