Miley Cyrus Pays Tribute To Her Godmother Dolly Parton

Dolly Parton's death has rattled the whole world. Jack White performed a "Jolene" cover at his London show last night, and Donald Trump ordered American flags to be flown at half-staff. Today, Miley Cyrus shared a tribute to her Godmother on social media.

"The feeling of losing my Aunt Dolly is beyond what feels right to share," she wrote on Instagram. "Our most sacred moments were private and they’ll stay there behind the stage, beneath the glamour & between our hearts."

"What I KNOW is Dolly would want me to feel it, write a song about it, and then continue on and be strong. I have an angel by my side," she continued. "I always have. One of our last conversations was about music and metamorphosis."

"I will always love her and want to make her proud. My heart breaks for the world, her family and friends who will miss her deeply. We’re in this loss together and we will see her in all of the most beautiful things," she concluded.

An old video has been circulating in which Cyrus said, "I decided to release 'Used To Be Young' on August 25th because this particular day historically has been important to me personally and in my career." The date also happens to be Billy Ray's birthday.

This week Cyrus has also been teasing her 10th studio album with billboards in NYC.
