British new wave legends Squeeze are currently on a North American tour with fellow '80s veterans Adam Ant and Haircut 100, but they had to cancel last night's Vienna, Virginia show for tragic reasons. Before the show, a tour bus collapsed on a man, killing him.

Fox 5 reports that the fatal accident happened yesterday in the parking lot of Wolf Trap, a large outdoor venue in the suburbs outside Washington, DC. The unidentified man was reportedly working under the bus when, according to the network, "a supporting apparatus failed and the bus collapsed on top of him." Police arrived yesterday afternoon and pronounced the man dead on the scene. At press time, it's not clear whether he was a member of the tour's road crew. Squeeze have issued a statement, saying:

Squeeze are deeply saddened and shocked by an incident that occurred at the venue earlier today, which resulted in the loss of a life.

After discussions with the venue and the relevant authorities, the decision was made to cancel this evening’s performance.

We will work with the promoter and venue regarding the possibility of rescheduling the show and will communicate further information to ticket holders as soon as it is available.

Our thoughts remain with everyone affected by this tragic event.
