Things used to be so simple. The band Muse did not invent the word "muse," but they got to be the main "Muse" on the social media landscape. On both Facebook and Instagram, Muse were simply @Muse. But then yesterday Meta, the company formerly known as Facebook, announced the launch of its new personal AI agent, which is also called Muse.
At this point, I would guess that Muse the band are still way more famous than Muse the AI agent, but that didn't stop Meta from taking the band Muse's social media handles away from them. Now, they must deal with the humiliation of becoming @Museband on both Instagram and Facebook.
Meta doesn't own Twitter or TikTok. Muse were just @Muse on both of those platforms, but now they're @Museband on those websites, too. Maybe they decided that it would be easier to have the same name on every network, since they would not be victorious if they fought Meta over it. Or maybe someone advised them, "Throw 'band' on the end. It's cleaner."
