"Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler" is the second to last track on Quasi's eighth album American Gong, but according to its Titanic-themed Clyde Peterse-directed video, it's the end-all finale. The Portland institution of vocalist/guitarist Same Coomes and ex-wife/Sleater-Kinney drummer/vocalist Janet Weiss (and since 2007, bassist Joanna Bolme) are experts of a certain strain of old-school Pacific Northwest indie rock, the kind that focuses on the "rock." Not grunge, though ... remember Hazel? Or if Built To Sill were from Olympia and not just putting out records from a label housed there. That said, this one nails a different nostalgia.
