The Colin Meloy completists out there may be all over these already, but there are at least five songs recorded for the Crane Wife sessions that don't appear on the album and are floating around the Internets. First there's "After The Bombs," apparently an iTunes-album bonus track. It's an earnest, slow-and-simple piano waltz, stripped-down and out of step with the rest of the proggy Crane Wife -- but a great tune for the collection (and we love that organ!). Grab it at at Good Weather For Airstrikes.
"Culling Of The Fold" is the other and is similarly unfit for The Crane. But it does have a goofy sense of intrigue that would make it perfect for a farcical mystery flick. (Think: Peter Sellers). You'll find this one at Bon Ton.
The other three ("The Day I Knew You'd Not Come Back," "Hurdles Even Here," and "The Perfect Crime #1") haven't turned up yet, but if you've heard 'em, let us know.
Happy hunting!
