Over Memorial Day weekend Justin Vernon put his mark on the classic Son House song/blues standard "Death Letter," aka "Death Letter Blues." The song's been covered and reinterpreted by a number of blues musicians as well as folks like the Grateful Dead, Diamanda Galas, John Cougar, and the White Stripes. A lot of ghosts attached to this one. It wasn't a Bon Iver set -- Vernon was performing with Peter Wolf Crier drummer Brian Moen, a reunion of their old band, the Shouting Matches. It took place in Altoona, Wisconsin. The guys wore Blues Brothers sunglasses and ties, clearly had fun.

No word on future Shouting Matches shows. Nice legs, Bon Iver.
