(The) Tony Castles are a Brooklyn-based trio who make gauzy dream pop. They've been around for a bit -- members played in Effi Briest, Darlings, and Dinowalrus, and they've played shows with Suckers and Das Racist (one member makes a cameo in this video). Their debut single "Black Girls In Dresses" is a good introduction to the band. Paul Sicilian's agile voice, along with the rougher production choices keep "Black Girls In Dresses" interesting, since the band brings in, say, a barking guitar sound or flute-like keyboard, slowly over the song's five minutes. Which is all good, because "Brooklyn-based dream pop" is an overcrowded market. The song's video was directed by Jordan Fish, who also directed Das Racist's "Rainbow In The Dark."
