Spoon Hang With Radiohead, Spend Two Days Taking Over The City

Ga was in the air in New York this week, and every time you looked around, there was Spoon: doing instores, getting horn-y on TV, playing in the rain, and drinking in the East Village. With Radiohead. That, indie rockers, is how you celebrate an album release. It helps that Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga is great great great etc., and Spoon kicked off their feel-good tour with a "secret" stop at the Union Square Virgin Megastore. Not the coolest thing you ever heard? Fair enough, it is Union Square and the Virgin store, after all. But how about getting Gawker Stalked hanging with Colin and Ed of Radiohead on Tuesday night at a secret CD release party at Hi-Fi (the one night we don't go, obvs). You wish you were there so you could not talk to them and stare all night long, it's okay. There's always next time Radiohead and Spoon are getting drinks, right?

Wednesday night was more for Spoon's NYC victory tour, giving a little taste of "The Underdog" with a lot of brass on Letterman, after which they sped their way to Rockefeller park for a River To River show in the pouring rain. We didn't make it, but Rawkblog did, capturing this clip of the best alternate exit music (for The Sopranos) out there...

Those who weren't fortunate enough to be in Manhattan this week, fear not; Spoon may be coming to you! There's a show at Schuba's in Chicago on 7/13, and then a little gig at San Fransisco's Café Du Nord the following night -- though you SFers may wanna take note of this announcement from the Daniel gang:

SAN FRANCISCO, PART DEUX
There's been some confusion about how to get tickets to our no-longer-secret show at Café Du Nord on Saturday. Contrary to reports earlier in the week, Amoeba Records will NOT be giving away tix to this one, so your best bet is to show up bright & early at the door to assure entry. Once you do make it inside, we'll be doing a short signing after the show for the first 50 people that buy the record on the premises.

There ya go, NoCal folks. Bring your sleeping bags! And send us pictures.
