After a successful Jimmy Fallon showing last week, the Dismemberment Plan launched their reunion tour in their hometown of Washington D.C. this past weekend. The first show took place Friday, 1/21 at the Black Cat followed by a two-night stand (1/22-23) at the 9:30 Club. Mehan Jayasuriya attended all three dates, snapped a ton of photos from the first two for us. He says each night "had a slightly different vibe," but that they were connected by band's 2+ hour/20+ song sets pulling from all of their releases as well as B-Sides, etc. Otherwise, the first night was the "rowdiest, most celebratory," the Change-heavy second night "was comparatively more subdued and a bit more professional (suit jackets instead of t-shirts, etc.)," and the third night "was the best technically speaking -- the rhythm section especially was locked in the whole night ... really smooth transitions and improv bits that felt really natural, just like the old days."
