With Blouse we have "Time Travel" and a Monthly Mix nod, and Captured Tracks has upped the ante by presenting the Portland band's entire, self-titled debut LP for streaming. There are many alternatives in the trio's chosen realm -- synth-pop of the fogged and light-headed, female-fronted variety, this much is true. But their take on mutated tape/heart-worn hooks is, at the very least, consistently catchy -- and the way Blouse mix early '80s languid post-punk melody and early '90s shoegazer pacing is, in the right moments, something pretty special.
