It's the return of Marnie Stern, the finger-tapping Upper East Side rock champion, and she's upping the self-referencing ante on 2010's Marnie Stern with a new record called The Chronicles Of Marnia, which is the fantasy-epic of all self-referencing titles. Recorded in Brooklyn's Rare Book Room by Nicholas Vernhes, it marks Marnie's first time with a producer, and her first time without drummer Zach Hill (who is off terrifying people with his Death Grips project). Stern tapped Oneida's Kid Millions for The Chronicles in an album that she tells SPIN is "less nutso." As for working with Vernhes, she says "He kept trying to get me to sing the right notes." Cross-reference these quotes with its first track available for consumption, "Year Of The Glad":

The Chronicles Of Marnia is out 3/19 via Kill Rock Stars. That, on its cover, is Marnie with her life companion Fig. You can learn a little about Fig The Warrior Roadie at Marnie's blog, Vajamming.
