Viet Cong are one of the best surprises of the year if you're a fan of the late, lamented Calgary rock band Women. After several years of silence since that band's break-up, former members Matt Flegel and drummer Mike Wallace formed Viet Cong, andthey picked things right up with the incredible "Bunker Buster" earlier this year. Now you can hear "Static Wall," which throws together loose guitar strums, faded melodic vocals, and a shimmery echoing synth chirp. It's an incredible song and another reminder just how dearly missed these guys have been.
