Your Old Droog – “Just Rhymin'” (Feat. Styles P & Joey Bada$$)

The Coney Island rapper Your Old Droog came to prominence in 2014 as a mysterious presence, one who sounded a whole hell of a lot like old-school Nas. (For a while, people thought it actually was Nas, rapping under an alias.) Since then, he's emerged as a goofy, genial presence on the New York rap underground. But he hasn't ventured too far outside his comfort zone. So it's cool to hear him link up with a couple of other prominent rappers on the new track "Just Rhymin'." On the track, Droog goes in over a hard, piano-pounding beat from the Detroit rapper and producer Black Milk. And he brings two friends: Styles P, the immortal Yonkers bruiser who probably gets in the best verse here, and the young Brooklyn newcomer Joey Bada$$, who seems to be getting better and more interesting now that he's already famous. Droog drops a hard F-bomb on this one, which is a fucking shame. But otherwise, this is a good one; check it out below, via Nah Right.

You have to imagine that there will be a Your Old Droog album sooner rather than later, especially if he's shelling out for guest verses now.
