This Friday, the great Katie Crutchfield will release Out In The Storm, her fourth album recorded under the name Waxahatchee. This time around, really for the first time, it's a full-band effort, with Crutchfield recording with a group that includes her twin sister Allison Crutchfield and Sleater-Kinney touring guitarist Katie Harkin. Dinosaur Jr./Sonic Youth producer John Agnello recorded them all playing in a room together whenever possible, and the result might just be Crutchfield's best album yet. The songs are all absolutely killer indie rock tunes with just a hint of old-school country, and the twin Crutchfields' harmonies are a sound you need in your life. We've already posted the album tracks "Silver" and "Never Been Wrong," as well as the extremely good non-album track "No Curse." And right now, you can stream the whole album at NPR. I strongly suggest that you do so.
Out In The Storm is out 7/14 on Merge.
