Violet Grohl Shares Debut Original Song “THUM”

Violet Grohl, daughter of Dave, is 19 years old, but she's been performing alongside her father for quite a while now. She's contributed impressive guest vocals at various Foo Fighters shows and Nirvana reunions dating all the way back to pre-pandemic 2020, when she was just 13. The following year, she and Dave teamed up for a recording of X's "Nausea." Today, she has released her debut solo single.

"THUM" is the A-side to a 7" that also features "Applefish." At the moment I'm only seeing it on Bandcamp — fitting for Bandcamp Friday. A year ago news broke that Grohl was working on her debut album with Justin Raisen, a producer who has a long history on in the overlap between rock and pop. Her Instagram post about the new single suggests "THUM" is part of that project. "I'm beyond excited to finally share a little bit of what i’ve been working on over the last year," she writes. "I made these tracks with the most badass group of musicians, so happy they’re finally yours:)"

Her IG tags suggest she made "THUM" with assists from Raisen, Joe Kennedy, Ainjel Emme, Anthony Lopez, Julio Tavarez, and recording engineer Brad Lauchert, with mastering by Mike Bozzi. Listen below.
