Blood For Blood Announce Reunion Tour, Share First New Song In 21 Years

Jason Zucco

The ultra-tough Boston hardcore band put out a bunch of records on Victory in the late '90s and early '00s, and they really helped define an era, just as many of their labelmates did. They released Serenity, their last album, in 2004, and then they went on a long hiatus. They returned to the stage last weekend at FTC Boston, the same hardcore festival where Haywire covered the Mighty Mighty Bosstones with Dicky Barrett. Now, Blood For Blood are making music again, and they've shared a new single and announced a tour.

Blood For Blood's new song "You're Gonna Have To Kill Me" is some real classic '90s salty-dog shit. It's got so many hallmarks of its era — gang-chant chorus, barreling production, metallic crunch with occasional melodic vocal bits, movie quotes, lyrics about living through unimaginable pain and not caring that the world thinks you're a piece of shit. Music like this is great because it proves that you can have an artist's soul even if you're the type of guy who's got a Boondock Saints poster hanging up in your living room.

"You're Gonna Have To Kill Me" is Blood For Blood's first new song in 21 years, and it's also their first release on Roadrunner Records, their new label home. Next year, they'll play a bunch of US shows with Skinhead, the oi-hardcore project whose album It's A Beautiful Day, What A Beautiful Day is one of the year's best heavy records. Below, check out "You're Gonna Have To Kill Me" and those tour dates.
