M83 Shares Score For Sci-Fi Art Film Resurrection

M83 is back on his film score bullshit. For a long time now, Anthony Gonzalez has been balancing out work for visual media with his own mainline M83 records. Earlier this year, he released A Necessary Escape, his soundtrack album for the documentary Dakur Chronicles. Today, he shares another new score, this one for the new sci-fi art film from the Chinese director Bi Gan.

Resurrection is Bi Gan's follow-up to 2018's Long Day's Journey Into Night, and it won the Prix Spécial at Cannes earlier this year. It takes place in a future where humans have lost the ability to dream but one mysterious being still has those visions. That elevator pitch doesn't really grab me. but the trailer looks cool as hell. M83's synths-and-strings score sounds just fine on its own, but I bet it'll sound a lot better when it accompanies those visuals. Below, stream the Resurrection score and watch the trailer.

The Resurrection soundtrack is out now on M83 Recording Inc./Believe. The film, which is already out in China, opens 12/12 in New York and Los Angeles.
